Your Counsellor and Psychotherapist
in Hackney, East London
There can be different reasons for wanting counselling: losing a loved one, going through a crisis, experiencing the impact of unusual circumstances (eg. a pandemic), not recognizing ourselves anymore, feeling stressed at work or at home, having health problems that doctors can’t find a reason for, not feeling confident or feeling like you don’t have control anymore, struggling with relationships (partners, parents, co-workers), feeling depressed, and more.
How Can Counselling / Psychotherapy Help
We can’t always open up in front of our family or friends. Sometimes, we need a neutral person to hear us without judgement, without giving us unwanted advice, someone who really listens and helps us sit with, unpack our thoughts and feelings and work through an issue.
This usually helps us understand what’s going on for us, have more clarity about our feelings, the changes we want to make, how to make them happen, feel empowered and less burdened.

About Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a Person-Centred psychotherapist, which means that what matters is what you make of what happened to you and how you feel about it.
I believe everyone has their own answers and ways of healing because our experiences are unique. I place great importance on experiencing and communicating genuine empathy, creating a safe and healing environment to foster self-awareness, personal growth and empowerment. I will support you to feel better about yourself, stronger and to find your own solutions.
My work is client-driven and at his/her/their pace.
I offer counselling and psychotherapy in Romanian and in English and I welcome people of all gender identities, ethnicities, and religions.
I don't diagnose or label clients.
I don't work with children.
If you want to discover how counselling and psychotherapy can help send me a message - all questions welcome, with no need to commit.
About the Sessions
The sessions are 50 minutes long for individual counselling and 60 minutes long for relationship counselling.
Before you book a session you will receive a document with information about counselling and psychotherapy and information about the control measures taken to manage the risk of Covid-19.
I currently offer online (Zoom), phone, and face to face sessions in Hackney, East London.
Note: If you think you will be unable to attend a session, I will ask that you inform me at least 48 hours before the session.
I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site in order to protect your confidentiality and to keep the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship.
I am originally from Romania and I moved to the UK more than 10 years ago motivated by a strong interest in diversity and multiculturalism, hence my openness to working with clients from different cultural backgrounds, religious affiliations and gender identities.
I was drawn to the Person-Centred Approach because of the positive experience I had in my early 20’s in personal therapy, when I was trying to find my way in life. I felt heard, accepted and met with empathy by my therapist then which helped me explore difficult experiences and find my own answers.
I am also passionate about travelling, foreign cultures and I try to spend as much time as I can in nature, to recharge my batteries and to ground myself.
My Psychotherapy Qualifications
I have an MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Applications from the renowned Metanoia Institute in West London.
I am a fully registered and accredited member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and adhere to their Code of Ethics.
All counsellors and therapists are required to have regular supervision to ensure they maintain the best level of care. While I may discuss specific clients with my supervisor, I protect their anonymity by withholding names and any other identifying details.
My Counselling Experience
The clients I have been working with have experienced:
difficulty relating to others
(family members, partners, co-workers)
communication difficulties & other
What I Specialise in
I have particular experience working with clients who experienced abusive relationships. These are described by: controlling behaviour, physical violence, threats, intimidation, jealousy, humiliation, criticism, isolation from friends and family and more.
All of these can leave one experiencing shame, fear, self-blame, guilt, low mood, nightmares, low self-esteem, guilt, sleep problems, tension, concentration difficulties, changes in appetite, negative thoughts, using alcohol or drugs to cope.
In therapy, you have a safe place to talk about and understand your feelings without being judged or hurt, to have your feelings validated, to improve self-esteem, to find your inner strength and personal power and to understand how abuse happens.
